Course Overview
This Ofqual-regulated qualification is designed for individuals who may be required to provide Basic Life Support (BLS) and manage anaphylaxis in emergency situations. It is ideal for those with a specific responsibility at work, home, or in voluntary/community settings.
Learners will develop the essential skills and confidence to act quickly and effectively in a life-threatening emergency, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of those in their care.
Course Content
Participants will learn how to:
Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
Assess an incident and conduct a primary survey
Provide basic life support (BLS), including CPR for adults and children
Place casualties into the recovery position
Recognise the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis
Administer emergency treatment for anaphylaxis, including the safe use of auto-injectors (e.g., EpiPen®)
Provide ongoing monitoring and handover to emergency medical service
Assessment & Certification
Assessment: Practical demonstrations and multiple-choice exam
Certification: Successful learners will receive the Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Management of Anaphylaxis (RQF), valid for 3 years
Course Format
Duration: Approximately half a day (4 hours)
Delivery: Classroom-based, with hands-on practical training

Sports coaches and activity leaders
Community volunteers
Parents or carers of children or adults at risk of severe allergic reactions
