Core Skills

  • Roles & responsibilities of a first responder

  • Assessing an incident and patient assessment (ABCDE approach)

  • Airway management (including adjuncts & oxygen therapy)

  • Basic life support (BLS) & CPR (adult, child, infant)

  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use

Medical Emergencies

  • Seizures, stroke, asthma & anaphylaxis

  • Diabetic emergencies

  • Cardiac emergencies

  • Shock (causes & management)

  • Poisoning & overdose

Trauma Care

  • Management of catastrophic bleeding

  • Wounds & burns

  • Head, neck & spinal injuries

  • Chest & abdominal injuries

  • Fractures, dislocations, sprains & strains

Additional Pre-Hospital Care Skills

  • Patient monitoring (pulse oximetry, blood pressure, respiration)
