Course Content

Patient Assessment & Management

  • Advanced primary survey and patient assessment

  • Airway management (including supraglottic airways & suction)

  • Advanced monitoring (ECG, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, capnography awareness)

  • Enhanced patient handover

Life Support & Medical Emergencies

  • Advanced resuscitation techniques (adult, child, infant)

  • Oxygen therapy and ventilation support

  • Management of cardiac arrest (including AED and manual defib awareness)

  • Recognition and management of medical conditions:

    • Stroke

    • Seizures

    • Anaphylaxis

    • Asthma and other respiratory emergencies

    • Diabetic emergencies

    • Sepsis

Trauma Care

  • Catastrophic bleeding management (tourniquets, haemostatic agents)

  • Trauma patient assessment (including mechanisms of injury)

  • Head, neck, chest, abdominal, and pelvic injuries

  • Limb trauma: fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains

  • Spinal immobilisation and patient handling

Special Incidents

  • Burns and scalds

  • Poisoning and overdose

  • Environmental emergencies (hypothermia, heat illness)

  • Crush injuries

  • Major incidents and triage

Professional Practice

  • Roles, responsibilities, and scope of practice for a Level 4 responder

  • Communication and teamwork in high-pressure environments
